Flight delays and your airport car

Flights change. A well-run airport car changes with them — usually without you doing anything at all.

One of the most common questions before booking an airport car is what happens if the flight is late. The short answer: we follow the flight, so the pickup moves with it.

Delayed flights

When you book with a flight number, your pickup is tied to that flight’s actual arrival, not the time printed on the ticket. A two-hour delay simply moves your driver’s arrival by two hours. You do not need to call us from the departure gate.

Early arrivals

Tailwinds happen. If the flight lands early, the driver plans from the new time — there is no waiting at the curb for the original schedule.

Changed flights and cancellations

If you move to a different flight, send us the new flight number as soon as you know it. If a cancellation leaves you overnight somewhere else, let us know and we rebook the ride for your new arrival.

Diversions

Occasionally weather diverts a Seattle flight elsewhere. Keep your driver’s contact details handy and message when you know your new plan.

The flight number is the most useful thing you can give your driver. Everything else follows from it.

Why the flight number matters so much

A pickup time alone cannot tell a driver that a flight is holding at the departure gate two states away. A flight number can. Flight-tracking data shows departure, en-route delays and the updated landing time, and your driver plans the trip to the airport around it. It is also how we spot an early arrival and make sure the car is there first.

Weather at Sea-Tac

Seattle’s weather rarely closes the airport, but low cloud and fog occasionally slow arrivals, and winter storms elsewhere in the country ripple into delayed connections. Snow in Seattle itself is uncommon but slows the whole region when it comes. On those days we check the roads before pickup and adjust the route and timing.

Missed connections

If a missed connection means you arrive on a completely different flight — or the next morning — send the new details as soon as you have them. We rebook the pickup for the new arrival.

A checklist for delay days

  • Keep the driver’s number handy and your phone charged.
  • Send a new flight number the moment you are rebooked.
  • If you are hosting someone, tell us their mobile number so we can reach them directly.
